I'm Kamilat a black Muslim woman who was born in Lagos, Nigeria and grew up in London, U.K.
I currently live in Edinburgh, Scotland. I started making clothes at 18 years old for myself when going to parties, weddings and social events with friends. I worked with my mother who loved connecting with people through art and these things inspired me to study Fashion Design at university in Epsom, Surrey. I remember assisting my mother in making a beautiful dress, by holding the piece of fabric as she cut through it. I listened to her intently while she used the sewing machine, and closely observed her sketch and prepare various outfits for a collection exhibited in London, I had so much to learn. So, while at university, I applied the rich experience I learnt prior into my studies, and did pop-up events while studying and loved the elegance exuded when the model was the star of the show. In 2025, I gave birth to my first child. And since my personal journey with being pregnant, making clothing and accessories was a way to treat my self with care because the fabric I used was made of Satin and Silk fabric that is gentle on your skin. Some of the feedback I have received is that It is a great gift for kids and as a really simple but detailed accessory, and this is motivating me to push my boundaries and keep pushing the creativity with this beautiful item.
